There were celebrations in Mr. William Carpluk's classes on February 12, 2009 honoring Abraham Lincoln. Mr.Carpluk, High School Social Studies teacher, often uses the words and speeches of Abraham Lincoln to help students understand and analyze the values that formed the United States. Our government is a government "by the people, for people and of the people," according to our 16th President. Annie Mandart and Brendan Wright, two students in Mr. Carpluk's class, created an Abraham Lincoln out of 4,300 pennies. They spent 14 1/2 hours doing so finding the right shading and placement. It was a gift to Mr. Carpluk and it is now displayed proudly in his classroom as you can see from the picture. |
