Principal’s Welcome
Welcome to Tremont Elementary School. Tremont serves nearly 600 students in kindergarten through grade five. Our staff is committed to excellence, and works collaboratively to establish a warm, nurturing environment in order to foster a truly outstanding educational and social experience for our children.
Tremont has a longstanding commitment to character education. Our building mascot, Stanley, can be found throughout our school proudly announcing our school motto, “Stand Tall, Stick Your Neck Out, and Do the Right Thing.” Character education is embedded into our daily lessons, using literacy as our primary source of instruction. Additionally, we have many school-wide initiatives that foster character development and support our building themes.
At Tremont, our reading and writing program is founded on the principles of balanced literacy, incorporating a daily reading and writing workshop. This literacy block affords the teacher the opportunity to differentiate instruction in order to develop lessons that are designed to meet each child’s individual needs. Our students will journey to exotic places and imaginative settings through exciting literature investigations, as they explore a variety of authors and genres throughout the year.
We are very fortunate to have a dedicated PTA, who is committed to advocating for our children. The PTA sponsors many events throughout the course of the year to enrich our students’ academic and social development. I urge everyone to join this wonderful organization, and to become actively involved in supporting your child’s education.
